WHITE ISLAND PRIVACY POLICY

Effective August 3, 2026

White Island is a private island guide for invited guests. This policy explains how the White Island mobile app handles information.

INFORMATION THE APP USES

Location. With your permission, the app uses foreground device location and heading to show your position, plan routes, measure hike progress, and provide on-trail guidance. White Island does not request background location.

Hike information. During a hike, the app calculates elapsed time, distance traveled, progress, and route status on your device. Guest hike data is not uploaded to a Miner Island account or stored in a cloud history.

Map services. The app uses Mapbox to display maps. Mapbox may receive limited technical and usage information as described in the Mapbox Privacy Policy at https://www.mapbox.com/legal/privacy.

WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT

No user account or login is required. We do not use advertising identifiers, create a developer analytics profile, or collect health, contacts, photos, or social data.

SHARING AND STORAGE

When you choose to share a hike summary, the app creates a share image locally and sends it only to the app or person you select through the device’s share sheet. Temporary share files may be removed by the operating system or app cache cleanup.

YOUR CHOICES

You can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings. The map and destination information remain available, but live location and active-hike features may be limited.

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

The app is intended for invited island guests and is not designed to collect personal information from children.

CHANGES

We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are made.
